Selling real estate is like no other profession. Agents are to know an awful lot about the law, contracts, deeds, and mortgaging and a slew of other subjects, but say very little; our opinions need to be qualified. Real Estate Agent’s area of expertise is about real estate. When I got licensed back in 1999, I wasn’t sure that I could stay in the industry being challenged. It is like muscular training, no longer was it about my thoughts, feelings, and ideas. I had to step into agency, and see the other persons’ needs, wants, and desires.

At a “sustentative” communication licensed real estate agents are required to provide the Agency Relationship’s Form and ensure that the buyer or seller understands what hiring an agent means and know what the agent’s obligations are, and pitfalls of not hiring one.
Finally, we are sale people, pitchmen, and women. Marketing houses is a complicated business. There are the systems of the home, the land, where the boundaries are, and other required disclosures. Another function of an agent is to render an opinion of value on the property under consideration if requested by a buyer client or to induce a seller to list. If you are selling what is a good and market-supported listing price, for a buyer what seems like a fair price given the local market? What will it appraise for if purchased with a mortgage? Assigning a value to a home is a serious business, but still, it is an art. Picking comparables properties to use and adjusting for the individual characteristics takes experience.
